Getting hold of what belongs to God

7-26-15 11

As believers we are appointed by God to be joint heirs of everything that belongs to God, alongside his Son, Jesus Christ.

That’s an exciting inheritance!

But if that is the case, have you ever wondered why it can seem that the things you have learnt about faith or about grace aren’t working for you?

You made your confessions rigorously. You didn’t miss a single day! And yet nothing is changing in your life. You can’t seem to get the results that you know you are promised.

Maybe the problem is that what you are doing is devoid of the Holy Spirit. Only He can take the Word and quicken it and make it alive with power for fulfilment. The Holy Ghost is the agent of results, so if we get to the place where our faith rests in our confessions, we have missed it. We can’t have faith in faith. We must have faith in God.

In fact, you cannot even know Jesus or the father if you don’t know the person of the Holy Spirit.

Religion is pervasive. Everywhere people declare that they believe in something, but there is a major difference with Christianity that you will never find anywhere else. They may believe in Mohammed, but they will never have him in their heart. He can’t get in there!

Buddha can’t get in there, either! Neither can the rest of them!

The disciples who walked with Jesus, were so close to Him, but when he got crucified, it showed that knowing Him in the flesh wasn’t enough. They questioned who he was, and started to go back to their normal lives. Their faith waned and they became powerless.

But when the day of Pentecost had fully come, He got on the inside of them, and that small crowd went and turned the world upside down with the passion and the power of the Holy Ghost within!

The Holy Spirit put Jesus on the inside of you, too. You can’t drown Him out. He is deeper than the pores of your skin. He is alive on the inside, and His voice and His presence will make things happen in your life!

In John 16: 14-15 Jesus says of the Holy Spirit: He will honor and glorify Me, because He will take of (receive, draw upon) what is Mine and will reveal (declare, disclose, transmit) it to you. Everything that the Father has is Mine. That is what I meant when I said that He [the Spirit] will take the things that are Mine and will reveal (declare, disclose, transmit) it to you. (Amp)

God sent the Holy Spirit, not to speak about himself, but to reveal Jesus. He will take what belongs to Jesus and give it to you. If you don’t love the Holy Spirit, you can’t really get hold of what belongs to Jesus, because He has been sent to make Jesus real to you.

Church people don’t want to give room to the Holy Spirit however, because they feel like they are too sophisticated to speak in tongues or to risk falling out in front of people.

My attitude is this: As long as He changes my life, I don’t care if He makes me fall over or not!

In fact I’m not even trying to change the way He comes on me. That is His personality and who am I to try and dictate to Him?

After all, He makes the blind see and the lame walk! He gives you a garment of praise instead of a spirit of heaviness! He lifts you up, He heals you, He gives you beauty for ashes and stirs up joy again when you were feeling suicidal, – don’t try and change Him to fit within the parameters of your program! Let Him be who He is. It doesn’t work to try and hang out with someone who is always trying to change you.

You grieve Him when you try to make Him fit to what you want. In fact you drive Him away with that attitude!

Tell Him with reverence, “Yes Holy Ghost, come on me now. Just be yourself. I give you permission to be everything you are in me. I will not resist you, Holy Spirit. I believe I receive the full manifestation of your personality in me.”

That’s how we start to operate in the anointing of God and to trust the anointing to bring supernatural results in our lives. Whatever He wants to do, let Him do it!
