The power of what you see

Bangalore 3-10-15

When Abram and Sarai were trying to conceive Isaac, their biggest problem was not their age or infertility, it was their “little tent” mentality.

Abram was from a family that worshipped the moon, and although he had received a Word from the Lord, there was baggage in his life that caused him to grapple with that Word to the point where he was getting ready to park his life or else choose a completely different trajectory.

Like all of us, his vision of what was possible for him had been shaped by the horizons of his life up until this point, so when it simply wasn’t happening, Abram came up with plan B for the Lord, which was that one born in his house, Eliezer of Damascus, would be his heir, since he had no son.

In Genesis 15:1 it turns out that God was ready for him! Abram hadn’t been able to get on board with His promise via the spoken word, He now spoke to him in a vision. He took him outside the tent to give him a bigger and more expansive frame of reference for what the fulfilment of that promise would look like.

If you are somewhat numbed to the impact of words due to things that have happened along the way, God is about to speak to you in a vision. He is going to switch from words to pictures, because that is the language of the Holy Spirit. God promised to hasten the thing that the prophet Jeremiah saw in order to perform it. If there is a delay in the manifestation of what you are asking God to do for you, and you believe that you are waiting for God to make the next move, maybe the key for you is to get a vision of what it will look like when it arrives.

Vision is God’s way of taking you from where you are right now to where you want to be. Do you have a vision for your life?

It’s a human frailty to get stuck mentally on something that went wrong in your past, but God is not bothered about where you came from. He has more respect for the blood of Jesus than the power of the wrong turns you took, or the setbacks you encountered.  He will always talk to you about your future and not your past, but if you spend your today thinking about yesterday and what happened, it is no wonder that you have no results! There is nothing that the word can do for you if you refuse to allow it to fill your imagination with new vision.

A vision determines a new reality. A vision gives you the ability to see beyond what you are currently looking at by way of current circumstances, and to see something much better and much greater in your future. Having a vision is a vital part of your well-being as a believer, so that God can take you higher and further than your natural limitations will allow.

A person with no vision is depressed today and worried about tomorrow. A person with no vision will always retreat backwards in life, because the familiarity of the known is reassuring; but life is ultimately hard for the person who wants to accept that they are just an ordinary man, or just an average woman and that is just the way the cookie crumbles! Life will make sure it assigns to you a small chair if you are “normal” and you will accept that chair unless you are defiant enough to believe what you can’t yet see any sign of!

Abram had to start seeing himself and Sarai with multitudes of children even though his wife had stopped her monthly cycle and he was already 90 years old. He had to believe that a person from his spiritual ancestry could still be used by God, and have the audacity to step out on it.

You will have to start seeing yourself already happily married in spite of the failed relationships up to this point.

If you are ever going to be well, you will have to have a picture of yourself with energy, strength and vitality. If you can’t see any money in your account, see it in the Word until you get a vision of wealth and riches in your house. Whatever you focus and meditate on for long enough, there is something in your vision that produces what you see.

How do you see your life playing out, regardless of what has been your reality up until now? Do you dare to see something for yourself in God that defies what is currently possible for you?

This is actually one of the most important messages you will ever come across as regards practicalities because it is game changer for all who will apply it to their lives. It has been the way in which I have seen doors open for me time after time. Things that take others years, you can pull off in days, because God will always hasten to perform the Word that you see.

When Jeremiah described what he saw, God’s verdict was that he had seen well, because his vision lined up with God’s purpose for him.

Would God say the same of the vision you have of your future? Would He endorse how you see yourself in ten years’ time?

Don’t let there be a delay in what you area believing for because your vision doesn’t; line up with what you say you believe. Make the adjustment today and declare it with me:

I am the righteousness of God and I see myself anointed with fresh oil. I see myself rising up from the bed of sickness and making a difference in this generation! I see myself prospering and financing the gospel. I see my family whole and at peace and serving the Lord! I see myself living out my days in plenty and my years in the goodness of the Lord!
