2 Peter 3:10-11
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be…
As born again believers, this planet with all its natural limitations is not our permanent home. We are just passing through. We have an eternal home in the presence of God, where we will belong in the truest sense of the word.
The Word teaches us to be circumspect concerning our lives, not to go from day to day thoughtlessly doing whatever is before us to do, but to examine our lives in the light of an eternal context.
The tragedy of living an unexamined life is that we will revert to the lowest form of existence which is living for its own sake; doing our best to please our own tastes and fulfill our own desires. The worst thing that can happen to a person who lives that kind of life, is to die, since for him, living is an end in itself.
But when we understand that we are spiritual beings with great inner depth, we start to perceive the emptiness of a life spent on oneself, since the fulfillment it offers is superficial and unsatisfying.
In fact the worst thing that can happen to a human being is to fail to recognize who he is and to miss his God-given purpose.
Some people have commented to me that I shouldn’t teach in depth from the Word of God as I do, and that I cannot build a church that way, since people don’t want that.
I disagree. I believe that people are craving the real thing.
There is so much entertainment in church, and although the emphasis in on play rather than being stretched and taught something that will bring about genuine progress and change in their lives, I know that the ones who God brings to El-Shaddai, are those who are hungry for God and ready to do what it takes to be distinguished.
We are called to get the message out of God’s grace towards humanity. To give our lives to this cause of lifting our generation as we publish the Word and demonstrate His love and faithfulness.
Let’s do it!
