Psalm 100:2 Serve the Lord with gladness…
The saddest thing in life is to live your whole life according to what someone else wants you to do. You live the life that your uncle thinks you should have, instead of finding the path that God has prepared just for you. You marry the person your family wants instead of finding someone that you can love for yourself. You end up miserable and unfulfilled.
Believers have spent their lives in church, feeling tied to a duty to work, and have never considered that they are human beings, not just Christians!
We need a balanced life, with opportunities for fun and relaxation, and with time to enjoy our kids, our friends and the stage of life we are at. We need time to reflect and time to understand God’s purposes in our lives so that we are not just swept along with the crowd.
Celebrate your life! Enjoy your little children or your grey hair – whichever stage you are at – relish it and maximize it.
When Christians talk about being a witness for Jesus, the greatest witness we can ever show forth is by living an attractive life, filled with engagement for who we are and what God has called us to do right now. That speaks far more loudly than words.
Shake off the bonds of religious restrictions and go out and have fun. You can go dancing and right there in the club be speaking in tongues. You don’t need to be afraid that the sinners will contaminate you. How about if by your goodness and excellent character, you affect the others in the club for Jesus Christ?
Your life speaks, so fill it with things that will speak well of your Heavenly Father.
Above all, serve Him with all your heart; not out of a sense of duty or needing to earn His favor. You already have all the favor you will ever need from Him – freely given.
Serve out of gratitude for all He has done for you. Make a decision to enjoy your life with Him. Serve Him because you love Him.
