Drop the conditions

Genesis 1:26

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Notice that when God made mankind, dominion and authority was given to men and women in partnership; “Let THEM have dominion….”

So often men claim the authority and dominion for themselves alone, but in reality God set it up so that men and women would have to work together in order to be maximized.

The issue with this is that men and women are so different that they barely live in the same world a lot of the time!

A man and a woman experience life very differently. They perceive situations differently and want different things. It takes work to dwell together in willing agreement as God has designed for marriage to be.

Unless we commit to getting inside of the head of our spouse, our relationships cannot be successful.

Ladies, don’t make the mistake of assuming that he is insensitive and unloving because he oftentimes fails to reach out emotionally. Before you know it, out of your hurt, you have withdrawn respect for him – the very thing that he most needs to thrive in the relationship.

Men, take into consideration your wife’s vital need of unconditional love and security; don’t withdraw your affection when she messes up, choosing to lecture her instead. She will become cold since she needs affection to blossom, and will frustrate you even more with her unresponsiveness.

The fact of the matter is, ladies, unless you are willing to give your man unconditional respect; and men, unless you are willing to give your woman unconditional love, you are not ready for a Biblical relationship, since only this will overcome the seemingly insurmountable flaws in  the human being you are married to, and preserve the unity that you share together.

In the covenant of marriage you enter in for what you can give, not what you can take. And all the time your safety net is that fact that God Himself knows how to stand up for you as you lose sight of your selfishness to serve another.

As you lose yourself , you step into the greatest human relationship it is possible to experience.

  1. Agree?

I remain ridiculously favored with “The Blessing”! “The blessing of the LORD makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.” Proverbs 10:22
