Don’t spend your life in rehab

Psalm 8:4-5

What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? For You have …..crowned him with glory and honor

Mankind was created for honor.

It is unnatural for a person to be dishonored and disrespected. And yet that is the position that sin has brought us to. When Adam sinned, mankind lost all sense of mastery and now it seems that life is overwhelming and that we are too small to manage our lives

Sin has messed up God’s order of things entirely. Like Mephibosheth, most people spend their lives living far below their rights and having lost all sense of purpose -in rehab – recovering from things that happened to them when they were children..

Yet it is within our power to refuse to live our lives recovering. Because of the sacrifice of Jesus, we can embrace wholeness and live in dignity once again, despite our weaknesses, just as Mephibosheth came to enjoy the privileges of the palace and eat at King David’s table, even though he was still lame in both feet.

We don’t need to be perfect to be free of the feeling of inadequacy that sin has left us with. We can simply embrace a fresh perspective on our lives and decide to relate to ourselves and others in a healthy way.

Consider the value of the following balanced approaches to life that speak of wholeness and being at peace with oneself.

  1. Connect emotionally with others.
  2. Be vulnerable in relationships without making yourself subservient
  3. Be assertive without being militant
  4. Say no when appropriate without feeling guilty
  5. Take initiative. Don’t wait for others to do things for you all the time
  6. Allow yourself to be wrong about something and admit it to those close to you without descending into depression and discouragement.

Declare this with me today, “I walk in the knowledge of God’s love for me. Therefore I don’t walk in fear; I don’t do depression or hopelessness; I am optimistic about my future and I will not settle for anything less than total victory in every area of my life!”

I curse every agenda and cancel the assignment of the wicked one on your life. I decree the unmitigated blessing to overwhelm every part of your life today. I declare that your dignity is restored to you, that your sense of purpose is returning and you are experiencing a profound fulfillment in just being YOU!
