…that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith
Man’s greatest problem is his attempt to be his own god and to credit to himself his own righteousness. The root is pride.
But there is a righteousness that is imputed, not earned, that comes straight from God and is the result of faith and faith alone.
However, if you choose to live by your own righteousness, you live under law, which is an impersonal and unyielding judge. The same rules and standards that you use to judge those around you, also condemn you.
You are destined to a life of depression and failure. It’s called the curse of the law. You may even go to deliverance services to try and get it off your life – but with no success, since you are choosing to live under it.
I don’t know about you, but I am tired of Christians talking about their inheritance in Christ and never seeing any of it. It’s time to realize that according to 2 Corinthians 3:7, living by the law is the ministry of death.
The ten commandments and all the clauses of conditional blessing date from a different dispensation, or a different era of God’s dealings with man. Yet so many pastors and teachers in today’s churches act as though these terms and conditions of relationship are still in operation, even though Jesus declared “This is my blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins”
The fact that many Christians haven’t realized, is that while the Bible was written FOR us, not all of it was written TO us. It was only when God revealed the terms of the New Covenant to Paul, that we could start to cash in on what Jesus accomplished.
That means that every time you stand before God, He doesn’t inspect you and check your record in order to award blessing; He examines Jesus, your sacrificial lamb without spot or blemish, and pronounces you clean and worthy of blessing.
Paul showed us that there is something far greater than a rule book – it is a relationship with Jesus Himself.
This message alone brings peace to the believer. No more soul searching – just confidence in the blood of Jesus. Wow!
