I am God’s favorite child. How about you?

Romans 1:16-17

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

The message many people are hearing in church is not the gospel!

If it was there would be far greater results among God’s people of salvation – which is from the Greek word “soteria“, meaning wholeness. The power to bring about a manifestation of everything people need to be made whole is contained within the gospel.

The critical key that is missing in people’s revelation of what the gospel is, is an understanding of righteousness. There are varying types of righteousness, but within the message of the gospel is hidden the brand of righteousness that is of God.

Let’s look at what righteousness is for a moment. Righteousness is all about having the right stance before God.

It is impossible to be alive without operating in some type of righteousness – or some idea of the right way to live life and to approach God.

Romans 10: 3 tells us that people, “being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.”

It’s all too easy to dream up your own idea of how to please God, since religion has promoted the idea that you have to be good enough to earn God’s favor. Yet the scripture teaches us that while we still sinners, Christ died for us.

God sovereignly set His favor on us, before we ever tried to please Him, so we do not need to spend our lives afraid of what He will think of us or do to us. He will never hand us over to the devil to teach us something!

Asserting our own righteousness and being unwilling to abandon it to take up the righteousness that is of faith is the greatest opposition to God that we can ever make.

As for me, my faith is my righteousness. God has decreed it, “the just shall live by faith.”

It is this righteousness that will bring goodness to pass in our future.

Our sin, together with that of the whole world, has been punished in Jesus. We are not being judged. God does not HAVE love for us, God IS love.

I am so happy about this gospel. Declare it with me today, “I am God’s favorite child!”
