1 Corinthians 9:24
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.
Success is not an accident.
It is not even an incident. It does not occur without intentional effort on your part. It will happen because of you, not in spite of you.
Success won’t even be providential. It is not God imposed without the yielding of your own will. It requires you to cooperate with God, since He is no respecter of persons, but has given His Word and the opportunity to believe and act on that Word to everyone.
God has not sovereignly chosen to help some but not others. Anybody who comes to him is acceptable and for that reason, success is available to all. The price? Developing the discipline of overcoming faith.
Acquiring a winning edge is not so much about having the will to win as it is about having the will to prepare.
Many people want the prize, but they are not willing to do the background work required. Yet this is the payment for winning.
Whether you choose discipline or ease, you will still incur some kind of cost in life. You will pay with some kind of pain: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. You will either go through the self denial of walking by the Word and not yielding to your emotions telling you to throw a fit and hand God your resignation, or else you will live by the flesh and later wish you had done certain things in order to get a better result.
As you make your decision how to live consider this: the pain of discipline weighs ounces, but the pain of regret always weighs tons.
Don’t run as one who is uncertain. You must bring everything under subjection and operate in self control. Repetition is not tedious it is a joy because it brings results.
You can have victory if you develop the discipline of overcoming faith. On that journey, if you hear of anyone who has made it, you are encouraged, not jeaous. But if you quit on the Word, you will be forever bitter about those who kept going and won their race.
Let today be a new day. Go for your dream; It is not out of your reach.
