Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
How are we going to see the miraculous in our lives?
Many Christians, when they go to church, hear about what they should do so that God will move on thier behalf, instead of hearing about what God has already done to make it happen for us.
All of these Christians are trying hard to behave well and to look like they are all together, and yet if we were all capable of hearing instructions and becoming perfect by obeying them, there would have been no need for Jesus. Since God sent Him, that tells us that someone is messing up around here!
The strange thing is that as born again people we have never been invited to participate in the law that was entrusted to the Jews. These very regulations, good as they are, activate the passion to do exactly what you are told not to do. The result is condemnation and sin consciousness.
It is no wonder that the average Christian won’t come to church when they are going through a hard time, because they think they have to show God their best side. But He died for us before we did anything good. He is not going to love us less because we are not yet perfected.
So what is the true gospel of Jesus Christ?
It is simply this: Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness, and by this same means all nations of the Earth can be blessed.
This is how we escape the death cycle of living under the curse of the law. This is how we will recieve the blessing in our lives: by means of our faith, not by our right behavior. Or we could say it this way: our faith IS our righteousenss.
What do you spend your greatest time perfecting: your behavior or your faith?
If today you are angry at God or you feel that He owes you something, you are still working for God and expecting your wages.
But if we will believe Him, and put our trust in His goodness, He will cause all things to work together for our good. There is nothing left to fear in life, because God will cause us to win every time, even when it doesn’t look like it!
What an awesome God we serve!
