Good character is not the same as good morals

1 Samuel  16:7. Look not on his appearance or at the height of his stature, for I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.

Character is how your heart is. When God makes the decisions about the outcomes of your life he looks at your heart. People sometimes think that a person wouldn’t be anointed, because the first impression they give is not so convincing, but God looks at the heart. God bypasses seemingly perfect people and chooses a ragamuffin who may not be polished in approach or behavior. Character doesn’t mean you don’t miss it. It means that your heart is right towards God.

There is a huge difference between character and morals. You can have good character and bad morals. Most people see life in one dimension, but life is full of contradictions. Not only this, but those contradictions will be present in the same person. Good character is not about being flawless.

This world is obsessed with reputation and fame, but reputation is only what you make people think you are, but character is who you really are. When no one is looking, what you do is equal to your character. What would you do if no one would find out?

Strong character is more important than building a strong career or business. It is of uttermost importance. If you don’t make character building your primary goal you will not have longevity or endurance. Life is designed to test you.

In the book of Deuteronomy chapter 8, verse 2  it says that God took them for 40 years in the wilderness to show them what was in their heart. Life will give you an opportunity to prove what is in your heart.

Similarly if there in anyone in your life who is pretending, God will give an opportunity for you to see if they are for you or against you. No one is able to hide forever. It is the lid that is setting the height to which you will ascend.

Your life will never go higher than you character. Their character is the glass ceiling to your accomplishments. If you break out with success that comes because of a gift that you display, your character will draw you back.

So character is the most significant asset we can attain to. Tomorrow I will be blogging about what defines true character. Don’t miss it.
